Description: Location. The Best Western Ashling Hotel is a late 19th-century low-rise building, situated overlooking the River Liffey between Phoenix Park and the National Museum, 500 metres from the Guinness Storehouse. Dublin International Airport (DUB) is 14 kilometres away, around 40 minutes by car. Hotel Features. Guests can stay connected via wireless Internet access in all public areas, or log on at the coin-operated high-speed terminal in the lobby. During fine weather guests can relax among the potted plants on the rooftop patio. The hotel's multi-storey garage provides complimentary secure parking facilities for up to 150 vehicles.
The Ashling Hotel's intimate bar adopts a predominantly classical theme, with Greco-Roman printed fabrics and framed prints, and Art Deco-style illuminated stained glass. Coffee and pastries are served in the morning, with draught beer and bar food available all day. Full Irish breakfasts, carvery lunches and bistro fare, such as Minute Steak and Pasta Carbonara, are served in the Cobblestones dining room.
Guestrooms. The Ashling Hotel has 150 guestrooms spread over three floors in the old building and five floors in the new wing. All feature summery decor in soft shades of yellow and green, with patterned curtains, brass fittings, and arched entrance halls. Furnishings are cherry-wood or mahogany, and the walls are hung with Jazz Age-influenced art prints. All rooms come equipped with cable television, direct-dial phones, trouser presses and tea and coffee making facilities. Bathrooms feature marble-effect floor tiles, dark-wood panelling, polished granite counters, and chrome fittings, and include heated towel racks and Dove toiletries.
Expert Tip. The 1,752- acre Phoenix Park, the nearest point of which is 300 metres from the hotel, is Dublin's largest open space and incorporates both a zoo and the official residence of the President of Ireland. Free guided tours of this grand 18th-century building take place every Saturday; tickets are available from the Phoenix Park Visitors' Centre.
