Walt Disney World is less than one mile from the hotel, and Epcot, Disney-MGM Studios and Disney's Animal Kingdom are all within seven miles. Orlando International Airport is 20 miles from the resort.
Hotel Features. The focal point of the Grand Floridian's five-story lobby is an illuminated stained glass dome. Architectural detail is prominent, as was common in Victorian buildings. Typical of the era, a grand piano, ornate chandeliers and metal scrollwork all complement the resort's public areas. The Grand Floridian offers complimentary transportation to Disney's parks, but resort guests need never leave the property to enjoy a full-service spa, two pools and a white sand beach dotted with colorful umbrellas. Activities for children include cruises and tea parties. The resort also has shops, a marina and on-site childcare.
An entertaining start to a day might include breakfast with Cinderella, the Mad Hatter and other Disney favorites at 1900 Park Fair Buffet Restaurant. Victoria and Albert's Restaurant offers sumptuous décor and dining, with the romantic ambience enhanced by harpists and a rose for each lady. Adjacent is Citrico's Restaurant, where market-fresh Mediterranean cooking offers Tuscan-inspired favorites such as sautéed shrimp, warm onion tarts with walnut vinaigrette and seared tuna with saffron pappardelle.
Guestrooms. The Grand Floridian's 867 guestrooms are surrounded by tropically landscaped gardens on the Seven Seas Lagoon, across from Disney's Magic Kingdom. Decor includes Victorian accents such as pastel colors, printed wall coverings, light-wood armoires, marble-top sinks with period fittings and 19th century-style woodwork. Amenities include high-speed Internet access, multi-line telephones and in-room safes. Most guestrooms also feature balconies. Refrigerators, coffeemakers and microwave ovens are available upon request.
Expert Tip. Disney's Grand Floridian transports guests to the Magic Kingdom by way of water taxi, ensuring a scenic trip to the land of Mickey Mouse.
