A grandiose country estate dating back to 1764, the Steigenberger Grandhotel Petersberg is set in the woodland of the Siebengebirge National Park overlooking the Rhine River, 20 kilometres from the city of Bonn. As the guest house for the German Federal State Residence, the hotel has in the past hosted international heads of state including Queen Elizabeth II and former US president Bill Clinton. The 99 guestrooms have a classic yet modern decor with rich fabrics and antique-style furnishings. All rooms have slippers, cable TV, pay movies, safes, minibars and wireless Internet connections.
The Rheinterrassen Restaurant offers gourmet French dining and wines served in a wood-panelled dining room flooded with natural light, or al fresco on the terrace overlooking the Drachenfels. In summer the Bistro Cafe serves regional specialities and homemade cakes and pies outside on a terrace shaded by linden trees. There is also a bar decorated with cartoons of German public figures where guests can enjoy a drink or cocktail. The Reha-und Wellness Centre provides an indulgent range of therapies and massage treatments, while the Skolamed Centre offers special health and fitness check-ups with skilled personal trainers. The rotunde, with its impressive dome, is the central showpiece of the hotel's conference facilities, with 21 rooms designed for seminars, social functions and banquets. The rotunde itself can hold 440 people and is adjacent to the banquet hall. The hotel has an underground and overground parking, and practical amenities include a 24-hour front desk, express check-in/out services, round-the-clock room service, and laundry and dry cleaning services.
