Description:
fiogf49gjkf0d Location. The Hotel Ca Formenta is a restored palazzetto which lies between the Biennale Gardens 350 metres away and St Mark's Square 900 metres away, and is situated on a broad street running through a residential district. The nearest airport is Venice Marco Polo, 13 kilometres from the Piazzale Roma, Venice's only entry point by car. Hotel Features. Opened in 2003, Ca Formenta occupies a building believed to date from the 14th century when it was a residence in a district crowded with chandlers supplying Venice's merchant and war ships. Guests can enjoy snacks and drinks in the canopied inner courtyard or at two canopied tables in front of the hotel. Complimentary wireless Internet access is available in the public areas, and the hotel has its own water-taxi dock. Staff at the 24-hour front desk provide concierge services such as restaurant recommendations and tour advice.
The Lido, a slender, 11-kilometre-long island facing the Adriatic Sea lies a 15-minute water-bus ride east of historical Venice's centre. In summer it becomes the city's playground, when beaches and water sports draw visitors and Venetians alike. Year-round, visitors rent bicycles to explore the island, take horseback rides, and play golf, tennis, and volleyball. Deep-sea fishing is available in the Adriatic Sea.
Guestrooms. Cà Formenta offers 21 air-conditioned guestrooms in three- and one-storey connected buildings. Decor includes ivory-coloured furniture, blue fabrics, gold brocade walls, Murano-glass light fixtures, and prints of details from Sistine Chapel frescoes. Amenities include safes, dial-up Internet connections, satellite television, and minibars. Marble bathrooms come with hair dryers, heated towel rails, and either shower/tub combinations or walk- in showers.
Expert Tip. The broad street called Via Garibaldi, which begins in front of the hotel, runs for 400 metres. Unlike the area around St Mark's Square it has not yet been invaded by tourists; the many coffee houses and restaurants of the area are crowded mainly with Venetians who come here to escape the hustle and bustle of the plaza.

Driving Directions |
fiogf49gjkf0d Getting there. From the airport, visitors can go by water or by land across the lagoon to Venice. By water, the fastest and most expensive way is by water taxi. Less expensive and slower is a boat that stops at other islands in the lagoon and ends up docking adjacent to St Mark's Square 900 metres from the hotel. By land, there are taxis and buses that go from the airport to Piazzale Roma, the historic centre's land-transportation terminus near the Venice-St. Lucia train station. From Piazzale Roma (and from the train station on the opposite side of Grand Canal), public water buses (vaporetti) go to various stops around the city along the Grand Canal, other major waterways, and the lagoon across the street from the hotel. More expensive water taxis go from Piazzale Roma and the train station directly to the hotel's dock. The water-bus stop nearest the hotel is Arsenale. After getting off the water bus, turn right and walk approximately 200 metres along the broad waterfront promenade, crossing two bridges on the way. Immediately after the second bridge, the hotel's narrow front can be seen on the left at the intersection with Via Garibaldi, a broad street running diagonally off the waterfront promenade.
