The hotel stands two kilometers from Tiananmen Square and the Forbidden City. The back lakes, which are surrounded by traditional courtyard houses, are located immediately south of this property. Hotel Features. The lobby of the contemporary-style Prime Hotel Beijing features a central fountain, an automated grand piano, and a reception desk backed by silver-and-gold Chinese wall design. Hotel dining options include the Emperor Chinese Restaurant that specializes in Hunanese and Cantonese cuisine. Paris meets Beijing in the intimate Elysée Grill that serves French cuisine and offers an extensive wine list. Chinese décor and a stone bar define Tang Ren Bar that serves snacks and beverages, while Café Wangfujing prepares Asian and European cuisines. A limousine service provided by Prime Hotel will pick guests up at the airport. Travel by taxi is also convenient, and shuttle bus service is available. Rental cars are not recommended for travelers unfamiliar with this area. Getting there. The Beijing metro system has three lines, many stopping at or near tourist and business destinations. Numbered stations and announcements in English make using the system relatively easy. The closest stop to the Prime Hotel is Wangfujing on Line 1. Rates vary slightly between taxi companies and rise by 30 percent late at night. Buses charge a flat fare, but are difficult to navigate without knowledge of Chinese.
