Built in 2000, the Ritz-Carlton Wolfsburg is a modern, semi-circular hotel located inside Autostadt, the Volkswagen theme park, across the river from Phaeno Science Centre and eight kilometres from Wolfsburg Castle. The hotel's 174 distinctive, cone-shaped guestrooms feature half-rounded desks and oval cabinets, designer lamps, and original artworks. All are equipped with satellite TV, wireless Internet, Bang & Olufsen stereos, and minibars. Bathrooms have white marble decor and Murano mosaics, and include separate bathtubs, showers, and toilet cabins, bathrobes and toiletries.
In the minimalist Aqua restaurant, chefs create five- and seven-course gourmet menus and à la carte dishes. The restaurant offers views over the waterfront and a candlelit atmosphere. Vision, the day restaurant, serves European dishes with Asiatic influences, as well as a breakfast buffet. Newman's Bar offers Cuban cigars and 300 types of fruit schnapps. The bar hosts live jazz and blues music six days a week. The design of the Lobby Lounge follows the principles of Feng Shui, contrasting a central fireplace and views of the water with a warm earth colour scheme and metallic fixtures. Drinks and light meals are served all day, and the menu includes 16 different kinds of tea served in Wedgewood bone china. The onsite health and fitness club houses two spa tubs, a steam room, dry sauna and solarium, and offers a variety of body and facial treatments, including hot-stone therapy and Balinese massage. Other amenities include cell-phone rental, child-care services, a video library and 24-hour room service. Guests arriving by car will find secure valet parking on site (surcharge). Hotel guests have free entrance to the adjacent Volkswagen theme park, six acres dedicated to the history of the automobile. The park is also home to the two car towers of Wolfsburg, where 400 new cars are on display. Hanover International Airport is 60 kilometres away, around 45 minutes by car.
