The Scandic Ålesund is an Art Nouveau design hotel set in Ålesund harbour on its own pier, 500 metres from the shopping centre and museums. This seven-floor hotel features 118 bright, modern guestrooms, decorated in a contemporary Nordic style with wooden floors. In-room amenities include satellite TV with pay movies, trouser presses, clock radios, hair dryers and minibars. Bathrooms have either tubs or showers.
After a day's sightseeing guests can unwind in the sauna to refresh themselves for the evening ahead or take advantage of complimentary access to the nearby 3T fitness centre. During the summer there is a special check-in point for kids where each child receives a surprise gift. Guests can relax in the bar and take in the views over the harbour, browse through the complimentary newspapers or make use of wireless Internet access available throughout the hotel's public areas. Business guests benefit from meeting rooms accommodating up to 160 people, all of which have exits onto the pier. Solnør Gaard golf course is 30 kilometres from Ålesund and has 18 holes, with golf cars available for rent. There's a putting green by the clubhouse. After a fire in 1904 the town was rebuilt in a distinctive Art Nouveau style and the centre, with its museums and shopping centre is just 500 metres from the hotel. There is also a lively urban scene with restaurants and cafes and the picturesque Brosundet Canal with its fishing boats. Ålesund-Vigra Airport is 10 kilometres away with an approximate driving time of 15 minutes.
