fiogf49gjkf0d The tourist office in Trelew has a good leaflet on the various Welsh chapels of the Chubut valley, and can fix up you up with an English-speaking guide ($90 per day). In season, Sur Turismo, Belgrano 330 (tel 02965/434081 or 434550) arranges day tours of the
Welsh villages
($15), the
penguin colony
at Punta Tombo (Sept-March; $30 plus $5 entrance), and PenAnsula ValdA©s (June-Dec; $40 plus $5 entrance), though you're better off organizing a tour to ValdA©s from Madryn. Other agencies such as Nievemar, at Italia 20 (tel 02965/464114), offer similar services. Your alternative, especially useful for touring the Welsh villages, is to take a
taxi
with someone like the recommended Carlos Stigliani (tel 02965/435352; approximately $110 to Tombo; $50 to the villages). Make sure you arrange an itinerary and agree on waiting times before setting out. One other trip for nature lovers is to
Playa UniA?n
, 6km past the dull provincial capital of Rawson, where you can take a boat trip to see the beautiful
Commerson's dolphins
(
toninas
) in one of their northernmost haunts. "CapitA?n Tonina" (alias David Peralta) runs ninety-minute boat excursions from the pier at the
port
(tel 02965/484799; $20; mid-March to mid-Jan). To get to Playa UniA?n, take the bus to Rawson's main plaza (every 15min), where you can catch a Transportes BahAa bus (every 15-30min) for the port.
