, Henderson St (Thurs-Sun noon-9pm), next to the markets, where they serve up an array of global, but mostly Asian "pop foods", make for a good place to experiment with inexpensive Japanese morsels.

Classy Japanese restaurant which suits those who know their sushi from their sashimi or can afford to learn. Closed Mon. Cicerello , Fishing Boat Harbour. One of the best fish-and-chip places in town. George Street Cafe , 73 George St, East Fremantle. Pleasant, small cafe, an east-side alternative to the central Freo coffee "strip". Gino's , 1 South Terrace. Best streetside cafe on the strip. Enduringly popular and unpretentious, serving great coffee and inexpensive food. Kailis , Mews Rd, Fishing Boat Harbour. Fast and inexpensive seafood cafeteria and takeaway, right on the waterfront. Left Bank Bar & Cafe , 15 Riverside Rd, East Fremantle. Trendy riverside venue with brimming subs, or for around $20 you can eat in the upstairs restaurant, which has great views. Mexican Kitchen , 19 South Terrace. Classic, wholesome Mexican dishes at around $15, with half-price nachos on Tuesday night. Old Papa's , 17 South Terrace. Local legendary Italian cafe, very popular with locals, serving up cheap meals. Pigeon Restaurant , 4 Market St. Vietnamese place with all dishes under $10.
