Regional tours from Kununurra

Kununurra is in the best position to offer a range of tours to the
Bungles
as well as the
East Kimberley
, and many operators are based here. The
Desert Inn
(free call 1800 632 533) offers two- to three-day Bungles and five-day Gibb River Road adventures, costing around $130 a day and leaving from both Broome and Kununurra. Kimberley Wilderness Adventure (free call 1800 804 005) runs 4WD tours throughout the region for around $140 a day for camping or $200 a day using homestead accommodation. East Kimberley Tours (tel 08/9168 2213) has a whole raft of options from one day in the Bungles to an eleven-day see-it-all tour for over $2000 (including some flights). Belray Diamond Tours (tel 08/9168 1014) visits the diamond mine in a day by road, air or with the Bungles thrown in from $150-285; ask at the tourist office or call Alligator Air (free call 1800 632 533) who have two-hour Bungle flights in high-wing aircraft for around $150 (no minimum numbers). Their six-hour Kimberley "The Works" flight ($320) includes a stop on the Mitchell Plateau and is one of the best scenic flights over the Kimberley but needs a minimum of four passengers; call in advance if you're heading for Kununurra.
