Call in at the Clarence River Tourism Association , on the Pacific Highway at the corner of Spring Street, South Grafton (daily 9am-5pm; tel 02/6642 4677, www.tropicalnsw.com.au ), which can give you information on scenic drives, river cruises and the national parks that surround Grafton; there's also a centrally located NPWS office at 50 Victoria St (tel 02/6640 3910), in the State Office Block. Long-distance buses stop near the tourist office, and Harvey World Travel, 54 Prince St (tel 02/6640 3910), can provide timetables and make reservations. Ryans (tel 02/6654 1063 or 6652 3201), a local bus service, leaves from the city centre in the direction of Coffs Harbour via Red Rock and Woolgoolga (Mon-Fri), and the Grafton-Yamba Bus Service (tel 02/6646 2019) runs north to Yamba. There's plenty of accommodation : try the Grafton Hotel , 97 Fitzroy St (tel 02/6642 2000; $50-70), a good pub offering beds and counter meals; or the Crown Hotel-Motel , 1 Prince St (tel 02/6642 4000; $35-70), for hotel rooms with a river view or ground-level motel units ($35-70) - they also have some dorm beds (under $20). If you want a swimming pool, spa and all the mod-cons, check out the more expensive Fitzroy Motel , 27 Fitzroy St (tel 02/6642 4477; $70-90), 500m east of the centre. For camping , head for South Grafton to the well-equipped Glenwood Tourist Park on Heber Street (tel 02/6642 3466; cabins $35-70). A good place to eat is Crabba Jack's Takeaway , 79 Fitzroy St, for fresh fish and chips and seafood, or try Georgie's Cafe (tel 02/6642 6996; closed Sun & Mon), at the Village Green Hotel on the corner of Pound and Turf streets
