There is a profusion of good but pricey Sydney-style
cafes
in Tamworth, and two of the best are on Peel Street: the
Old Vic Cafe
(Mon-Sat 9am-5pm, Sun 9am-2.30pm) at no. 261, and at no. 407 the atmospheric
Inland Cafe
(Mon-Wed 7am-6pm, Thurs 7am-6pm & 7-11pm, Sat 7-11pm, Sun 9am-5pm). For larger portions of perfectly good tucker, try the
Tamworth Hotel
on Marius Street; if you're just after a drink though, there's more fun to be had at the
Tudor Hotel
across the road. Outside festival time, you'll be disappointed if you think the town's
clubs and pubs
constantly resound to C&W twangings, but you can catch some acts on Thursday evening at the
Tamworth RSL Club
on Kable Avenue, and on the first Friday and third Sunday of the month in the
Tamworth Hotel
