Banks Most banks are in Pialba, with a few scattered along the Esplanade at Torquay. Bicycles Rayz Pushbike Hire (tel 0417 644 814) rents out bikes at $12 a day, with free delivery and pick-up. Camping equipment Some 4WD operators also rent camping equipment. Car rental Nifty, 463 Esplanade (free call tel 1800 627 583), has decent runarounds from $29 a day. For 4WDs expect around $90 per day for two-seaters such as a Suzuki, $155 per day for an eight-seater Toyota Landcruiser, including insurance. Aussie Trax, 56 Boat Harbour Drive, Pialba (tel 07/4124 4433, fax 4124 4965, www.aussietrax.com ) is probably the most clued-up, longest-running operator in Hervey Bay and puts together good value all-inclusive packages; Bay 4WD Centre, 54 Boat Harbour Drive, Pialba (tel 07/4128 2981, fax 4124 2723); Heritage Island Explorers, 104 Boat Harbour Drive, Pialba (tel 07/4124 3770). Diving Diver's Mecca, 403 Esplanade, Torquay (tel 07/4125 1626 or free call 1800 351 626, diversmecca@optus.com.au ), and Wizzer Diving, at the Urangan marina (tel 07/4128 9033, fax 4125 6766, wizzer@atcom.net.au ), both offer training and exploration of local sites after turtles, groupers, sea snakes and other marine life. Internet access Several hostels can oblige, as can the tourist information near the bus station at Pialba's Bay Central shopping complex ($4 an hour).
