Mount Isa's hotels and clubs are the main source of meals , though Red Lantern Chinese , on the corner of Simpson and Isa streets, is pretty good, if a little expensive. Los Toros Mexican , 19 Camooweal Rd, is a friendly family restaurant and serves real ale brewed on the premises in Australia's smallest registered brewery. The city boasts members of over fifty nationalities, many of whom have their own clubs with restaurants. You'll have to befriend a few locals to find these, but you'll almost definitely end up at the Irish Club , on Buckley Avenue 2km south of the centre, where everyone converges for weekend bands and inexpensive food. Closer to the centre the upstairs grill at the bulky Mount Isa Hotel , on the corner of Marian and Miles streets, is reliable, and The Tavern on Isa Street has excellent-value lunches; look out for other hotels' all-you-can-eat specials or try one of the fast-food outlets on Simpson Street, where you'll also find the flashy Buffalo Club ("The Buffs"), which hosts an Oktoberfest , and a shopping complex for provisions . For somewhere to unwind, try Sweet Oasis cafe on Miles Street.
