The Encounter Bikeway - Victor Harbor to Goolwa

fiogf49gjkf0d
The Encounter Bikeway follows a scenic 24km stretch of coast between Victor Harbor and Goolwa. Parts of the route are on-road and slightly inland, but mostly it follows the coastline and is for cyclists , rollerbladers and walkers only. The return trip can be completed comfortably in a day; the most scenic section, and hilliest, is between Dump Beach in Victor Harbor and the town of Port Elliot. Mountain bikes can be hired from Goolwa Cycle Hire, Ampol Service Station, Cadell Street, Goolwa (tel 08/8555 1000; $22 per day), or Victor Harbor Cycle, 73 Victoria Street, Victor Harbour (tel 08/8552 1417; $18 per day); or you can take your pick from a unique selection of brightly painted tandem bikes , some side-by-side and some with trailers, from Victor Bike Hire, 12 Flinders Parade, Victor Harbor (tel 08/8552 4458; from $10 per hour). Unfortunately none offer a drop-off service for one-way journeys, but on Sundays you can take your bike on the Cockle Train between Victor Harbor and Goolwa and cycle back.
