Greyhound Pioneer buses from Perth drop passengers at the Ajana turn-off on the highway, to be met by a shuttle bus on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday only. Westrail buses from Perth come right into town on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, returning the following day. The tourist office (daily 9am-5pm; tel 08/9937 1104, ktb@wn.com.au ) is in the Allen Centre on Grey Street; many of the local activities and tours can be booked here. The small shopping centre on Porter Street includes a bakery, supermarket and post office , with bank agencies and cash machines at various outlets around town. Suzuki 4WD jeeps can be rented from Kalbarri Hire Cars (tel 08/9937 1277) on Sutherland Street. Mileage is unlimited in Kalbarri and in the national park, and the drive up River Road at the town's northern end will give you a chance to fiddle with the transmission levers.
