From the train station , at the southern end of Zell's central pedestrian zone, it's a five-minute walk northeast to the tourist office , at Brucker Bundesstrasse 1 (Mon-Fri 8-noon & 2-6pm, Sat 8-noon; tel 06542/770, www.zellamsee.com ), which is roughly opposite the small bus station . The tourist office will help book private rooms , either in Zell itself or in the nearby village of SchA?ttdorf, 2km away at the southern end of the lake. If the office is closed, there's an accommodation information board with courtesy phones outside. SchA?ttdorf holds the nearest youth hostel , the HI Haus der Jugend , at Seespitzstrasse 13 (tel 06542/57185; to get there from the station, walk southwards along the lakeside path), which has dorm beds from A¶S180/a?¬13.14 per person, and some doubles (under A¶S400/a?¬29.07). Best of the campsites is Seecamp , 3km out of town at Thumersbacherstrasse 34, on the northern shore of the lake (tel 06542/72115).
