Efficient buses and minibuses run to the city from all over the island. If you're driving here, you'll have to negotiate a slightly tricky one-way system, but there are many safe areas to park in the centre. Seeing the central sights is easiest on foot .

There is little reason to stay in Bridgetown, and the city has only one hotel of note: the Grand Barbados Beach Resort at Aquatic Gap (tel 246/426-4000, fax 429-2400, grandhtl@caribsurf.com ; US$100-130), which caters mainly to visitors on business.
