fiogf49gjkf0d Both the airport and the RodoviA?ria are some way from the city centre. A taxi from the
airport
to the centre will cost you about $20: pay at the kiosk on the left as you come out of the luggage collection area and hand the coupon to the driver. Alternatively you can catch the bus outside marked "SA?o CristA?vA?o". From the
RodoviA?ria
a taxi to the centre costs about $10. Buses connect the RodoviA?ria with the local bus station, the
Terminal de IntegraA§A?o
at Praia Grande, by the waterfront in the city centre. Once there you shouldn't need to use public transport very much: the area of interest is small and most things are within walking distance.
The availability and quality of
tourist information
in SA?o LuAs seems to fluctuate considerably, and opening hours are unreliable. The main office of the state tourist organization, MARATUR, is in a small road just off PraA§a Dom Pedro Segundo (PraA§a Pedro II) in the city centre. Other offices which you may find open are at the Casa da Cidade in PraA§a JoA?o Lisboa, and at Rua Djalma Dutra 61a, in the heart of the Zona. You can
change money
at the Banco da AmazA?nia on PraA§a Dom Pedro Segundo or at Casa 711, Av. Beira Mar 544, right next to the bridge which connects the old city with SA?o Francisco and the other beach areas.
One other thing you should bear in mind is that as in Salvador many streets have two names: Rua do Trapiche, for example, is also known as Rua Portugal
