Regina's airport is about 5km west of the city centre; the taxi trip costs roughly $10. A shuttle bus to downtown hotels meets Regina's flights (4pm-midnight; $7). There is also a bus to Moose Jaw (tel 949-2121 or 1-877/828-4626; Mon-Fri; $20). A ten-minute walk east of the airport brings you to Regina Transit's buses #11 and #13 which leave for the city centre from the junction of Regina Avenue and Pasqua Street (Mon-Sat every 25min 6am-12.30am; Sun 11am-6pm hourly). The bus station is downtown at 2041 Hamilton St, just south of Victoria Avenue; the train station is now a casino.

Tourism Regina operates a tourist bureau east of town on Hwy 1, really only accessible by car (late May to early Sept Mon-Fri 8am-7pm, Sat & Sun 10am-6pm; early Sept to late May Mon-Fri 8.30am-4.30pm; tel 789-5099 or 1-800/661-5099, www.tourismregina.com or www.inregina.com ). In addition, the Tourism Saskatchewan Office (Mon-Fri 8am-5pm; tel 787-2300 or 1-877/237-2273, www.sasktourism.com ), at 1922 Park St in the Leaderpost building, has a comprehensive range of leaflets and booklets on Saskatchewan and can help with more specific info on Regina. For local events and news pick up a free copy of the twice monthly newspaper Prairie Dog from cafes and bars.

The best way to see the centre is on foot , though the area around McIntyre Street and Saskatchewan Drive, and sections of Osler Street, six blocks east, are run-down neighbourhoods that are best avoided. Similarly accessible is the Wascana Centre , a large multipurpose park and recreational area, whose northern boundary is a few minutes' stroll south of the centre. For longer journeys within the city, Regina Transit runs bus services with a standard single fare of $1.50 (exact fare payable to driver), $4.50 for a day-pass or $14 for a book of ten tickets, available at the Tourism Saskatchewan Office or the transit information centre, located at 2124 11th Ave (Mon-Fri 7am-9pm, Sat 9am-4pm; tel 777-7433).
