As the city is large and spread out, you'll certainly need to use Changsha's
buses
at some point, which run between about 6am and 9pm - just allow plenty of time to get anywhere. Almost all services originate at, or at least stop at, the train station square. Chinese
maps
of the city, with the
bus routes
clearly marked, are easily picked up from street vendors at arrival points, which are also good places to hail a
taxi
. These cost A?8 to hire; you then pay for distance covered in A?1.60 increments. Other useful information
