The port of WEIHAI , 60km east of Yantai, has nothing to recommend it to tourists, but it's an important transit point. A twice-weekly passenger ferry leaves from here for Inch'on in South Korea . Tickets (the cheapest are US$130) can be booked at Weihai CITS at 27 Heping Lu (tel 0896/5225850), Yantai CITS or from the business centre at the Wehaiwei Dasha (tel 0896/5232542; ?150-200) on Kunming Lu, the main road leading to the port. Cheaper accommodation is offered at the Weihaiwei Dajiudian (tel 0896/5233888; ?100-150), on a small street one block north of Kunming Lu, which has a very plush seafood restaurant . The Bank of China , where you can change travellers' cheques, is a few minutes farther west along Kunming Lu from the Weihaiwei Dasha. Weihai's long-distance bus station is about ten minutes south of the Bank of China, or 25 minutes' walk from the port. There are sleeper buses to Beijing (?150 one way) and Shanghai (?200 one way) every afternoon, and frequent services to Yantai and Qingdao.
