fiogf49gjkf0d Yantai's
airport
is 15km south of the city and taxis into the centre should be around A?50. Ferries arrive at the
passenger ferry terminal
in the northwest of town, which is packed in summer with peasants beginning their annual migration to Manchuria for the harvest. The
train station
near here is at the terminus of two lines, one to Qingdao and one to Ji'nan. The bus from Qingdao rockets along an expressway and terminates at the
long-distance bus station
on Qingnian Lu, southwest of the train station
Bus #2 is the most useful around the city, travelling east from the train station along Nan Dajie, the main street, then turning south down Jiefang Lu. Both the
post office
(Mon-Fri 8am-6pm) and the
Bank of China
(Mon-Fri 8am-noon & 2-5pm, Sat 8am-noon) are on its route. The
CITS
office, at 181B Jiefang Lu (tel 0535/6234144), sells ferry and train tickets. You can also get ferry tickets from a booking office in the passenger ferry terminal. The CAAC office (Mon-Sat 8am-5pm; tel 6225908) is opposite the train station on Beima Lu, and offers flights to Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou, as well as to Hong Kong and Seoul.
The two best
restaurants
in town are the one at the
Golden Shell Hotel
on Beima Lu (try the seafood stew) and, east of here, the more expensive
Friendship Restaurant.
Small, rather casual restaurants on the seafront offer shrimp, crab and fish dishes.
