Together, the C-5 (known locally as Avenida Rosario Sanchez) and the Malecon are the only major thoroughfares in the city. Incoming buses stop in the centre of the Malecon, easy walking distance from most hotels, while
guaguas
stop and set off from the large city market (El Mercado), right on the C-5, close to a few budget accommodations but a half-kilometre north of the seafront.
