The C-5 that stretches along the country's north coast leads directly onto the Malecon - a pretty concrete boardwalk that divides the shops and restaurants from the ocean. Together, the C-5 (known locally as Avenida Rosario Sanchez) and the Malecon are the only major thoroughfares in the city. Incoming buses stop in the centre of the Malecon, easy walking distance from most hotels, while guaguas stop and set off from the large city market (El Mercado), right on the C-5, close to a few budget accommodations but a half-kilometre north of the seafront.

Samana has an array of accommodations , from luxury resorts to dirt-cheap options, but the latter are not quite as comfortable as those you'll find in Las Terrenas to the north.
