fiogf49gjkf0d Arriving
in Luxor can be a stressful experience, especially at the
train station
, where you're mobbed by hotel-touts thrusting cards under your nose and bad-mouthing rival establishments. As most places are less than fifteen minutes' walk away, it's fine to strike out towards your preferred option without further ado. Much the same goes if you arrive
by bus
at the new station on a side road just north of Luxor Temple, or
service taxi
at the depot off Sharia el-Karnak, just to the north of the centre. You can walk from the latter to the centre in under twenty minutes, but may prefer to catch a minibus,
caleche
or taxi if you are heading for the southern part of town around Television Street. Travellers who've come up
from Aswan by felucca
are dependent on private taxis from Esna or Edfu, whose drivers will rendezvous with hustlers at the checkpoint south of Luxor and steer you to their hotels. If you're not being met at
Luxor Airport
, a taxi into town should cost A?E10-12, depending on the size of the car.
