Aside from eating and drinking in hotels, there is a wide range of restaurants, coffeshops and fuul and taamiya stalls to choose from. One of the best value seafood restaurants is the Sinai Star (tel 069/600-623) in the main shopping arcade, where a meal will cost you ?E15-20. Another, more expensive choice for seafood is Safsafa (tel 069/660-474) in Asia Mall. The cheapest snacks going are egg or taamiya sandwiches, sold in local restaurants and street stalls, and there are also a couple of pizza joints. The best-stocked supermarket in downtown Sharm is Sharm Express, located near the 24-hour laundry , Bergo's. However, the area's cheapest supermarket, which also offers the most choice, is Sheikh Abdullah's in Hal el-Nur. To the left of Safety Land, there is a street leading to a bakery . Beer is available from a shop beside the Sinai Star in the main arcade (24 cans of Stella costs ?E85). Other facilities are concentrated on the hilltop, where an arcade contains three banks (daily 8am-2pm & 6-8pm) that change travellers' cheques; a post office (daily except Fri 8am-3pm; you can also buy stamps in shops and post letters in hotels) and a pharmacy (daily 9am-3pm & 6-11pm). Further on and off to the left is a 24-hour telephone exchange that sells international phonecards for ?E20 (3min). The police and tourist police (both open 24hr) share a building in the municipal showpiece zone beyond the mosque.
