fiogf49gjkf0d For a small city, Bourges doesn't do too badly for
nightlife
. Late-night venues include
L'Iguana Cafe
, 3 rue du Prinal, a hot hangout with salsa every Tuesday (Mon-Sat 7pm-3am); the nearby
La Cle
, 5 rue Emile Deschamps, which has live music and cheesy theme nights (Mon-Sat 7pm-3.30am); the
Pub Murrayfield
, 11 rue Jean Girard (Mon & Sun 3pm-2am; Tues-Sat 11am-2am), offering quite a selection of beer and whisky, and dart boards; and the very 1980s
L'Interdit
, 5 rue Calvin (Wed-Sun 5pm-2am), a gay bar that touts itself as a "
bar humain
".
Bourges's
festival
programme is also impressive, with several major events in town. The Printemps de Bourges features every sort of music - including some big names - for one week between mid-April and the beginning of May (tel 02.48.24.30.50; tickets from 100F/€15.24). More esoteric are the Festival Synthese, an electronic and acoustic music bash during the first week of June (tel 02.48.20.41.87, fax 02.48.20.45.51), and Un Ete a Bourges (mid-July to mid-Sept), a celebration of theatre, music and open-air street performances.
