FrAŠjus

The population of FRA?JUS , remarkably, was greater in the first century BC than it is today if you just count the residents of the town centre, which lies well within the Roman perimeter. But very little remains of the original Roman walls that once circled the city; and the harbour that made FrAŠjus an important Mediterranean port silted up early on and was finally filled in after the Revolution. It is the medieval centre , much more than the classical remnants, that evokes a feel for this ancient town.
