The tourist office is on the left at the beginning of rue du Majou (July & Aug Mon-Sat 10am-7pm, Sun 10am-noon; rest of year Mon-Sat 10am-noon & 2-5/6pm; tel 05.65.27.52.50, fax 05.65.27.52.52, gramat@wanadoo.fr ), and has lists of B&B options in the area. Bikes can be rented from MJC (tel 05.65.41.11.65), behind the tourist office.

For an overnight stay , the HA?tel de la Promenade , on the northwestern side of the ring road at 48 bd Galiot-de-Genouillac (tel 05.65.41.41.44, fax 05.65.41.41.22; 220-300F/a?¬34-46), is a cheerful place with immaculate rooms and a good restaurant (closed Sun lunch; menus from 71F/a?¬10.82). On the opposite side of town, near the post office , is the agreeable HA?tel Bissonnier , 51 bd des Martyrs (tel 05.65.41.02.48, fax 05.65.41.44.67; 220-300F/a?¬34-46; closed Dec), with a restaurant serving such local specialities as confits and stuffed duck's neck (closed Sun evening & Mon lunch Oct-April; menu from 85F/a?¬12.96). There is a good municipal campsite , Ecoute s'il Pleut (tel 05.65.41.06.19; closed Oct-May), 1km north on the Sarlat road.

For a pleasant independent restaurant , with a tiny outside terrace, try the Croque-Note on the corner of rue Jean-JaurA?s and boulevard GabanA?s on the south side of the old town (menus from 65F/a?¬9.91).
