For places to stay , try the simple HA?tel du Centre , 4 place de la RA©publique, above a cafA© opposite the cathedral (tel 03.86.65.15.92; under 160F/a?¬24; closed Wed evening & Thurs, March & Oct), or the pleasant Esplanade , 2 bd du Mail (tel 03.86.83.14.70, fax 03.86.83.14.71; 160-220F/a?¬24-34; closed Aug), with a bar downstairs. Also by the cathedral and a cut above the others is the old-time provincial HA?tel de Paris et de la Poste , 97 rue de la RA©publique (tel 03.86.65.17.23, fax 03.86.64.48.45, www.hotel-paris-poste.com ; 400-600F/a?¬61-91), with an excellent restaurant specializing in traditional country cuisine (menu at 170F/a?¬25.91, carte considerably more).
