fiogf49gjkf0d The
gare SNCF
lies on the west side of the city centre, barely fifteen minutes' walk from the cathedral along rue du Maire-Kuss and rue du 22-Novembre. The
airport shuttle
(
navette
), departing every fifteen minutes (5.30am-11pm), drops off at Baggersee, from where you can catch the very convenient and futuristic
tram
into central Strasbourg.
The main
tourist office
is at 17 place de la CathA©drale (June-Sept Mon-Sat 9am-7pm, Sun 9am-6pm; Oct-May Mon-Sat 9am-6pm, Sun 9am-5pm; tel 03.88.52.28.28,
www.strasbourg.com
), with the regional office for the Bas-Rhin nearby at 9 rue du DA?me (Mon-Fri 9.30am-6pm, Sat 10am-1pm & 2-6pm; tel 03.88.15.45.80,
alsace-tourism@sdv.fr
). There is also a tourist office just in front of the train station (Mon-Sat 9am-7pm, Sun 9am-6pm), in the new underground shopping complex, and one at the airport (daily 8.30am-12.30pm & 1.15-5pm).
Most of the city centre is now pedestrian-only, but several car parks around Strasbourg cater for those who are
driving
into town. At Parking Rotonde, to the north, and at Parking A?toile to the south, a 15F/a?¬2.29 fee gives you unlimited parking and tram tickets for the journey into the town centre; further south, Parking Baggersee is free and has easy access to the tram, which takes you to the town centre in fifteen minutes. Strasbourg is also France's most bicycle-friendly city, and 300km of
bicycle
lanes and particularly cheap bicycle hire
making cycling a tempting option.
