Mainz's
Hauptbahnhof
is situated just beyond the northwestern edge of the Altstadt. The

) is in the Bruckenturm am Rathaus at the corner of Rheinstrasse. Here you can buy the
Mainz Card
, which costs DM10/€5 for one day or the whole weekend, and covers public transport costs, entry to museums and various other discounts, including a 10 percent rebate at selected hotels. If you're flying in or out of Frankfurt, Mainz makes a good alternative place to stay as the
airport
lies on the S-Bahn line between the two cities, with several services every hour and a journey time of less than thirty minutes. The stretch of the Rhine between Mainz and Koblenz is the most popular with tourists, and
steamers
