L'Affirmatif II 17 blvd General-de-Gaulle. A cosy haunt serving up reasonably priced massive wood-oven pizzas and the odd creole dish; popular with locals.

Au P'ti Paris Perinet. A gorgeous creole house east of town with delicious thin-crust pizzas and light salads, and entertaining theme nights like cafe-theatre (Wed), magic (Fri) and live music (Sat).

Loolapaloosa 122 rue Montauban. Gimmicky Cuban-style nightspot where bartenders dressed like Che Guevara periodically set the bar on fire - mind your fingers - while the clientele sweats to salsa 'til the wee hours.

Lotus D'Or 38 blvd General-de-Gaulle. Good Vietnamese establishment whose house speciality, Mi Xao Don, is loaded with pork, shrimp, chicken, squid and crispy noodles and is big enough for two.

Tex-Mex 115 rue Montauban. Over-the-top Mexican restaurant-bar with bullfight videos and a neon-lit wagonwheel; the tacos are cheap and the Dos Equis flows until late.
