Great culinary experiences and nightlife are not what Tegucigalpa is noted for, although a fairly wide selection of cuisines is available in a reasonable number of places to eat . The more expensive restaurants are generally found in the eastern colonias and along the Blvd Morazan, while the centre boasts a number of cheap and cheerful cafe-style eateries; quality varies but the portions are generally large. Unless otherwise stated, all the places we've listed are open daily.

With a few exceptions, most bars in the centre are fiercely local hangouts, and as a visitor you may get an indifferent reception. The atmosphere is more relaxed in the upmarket spots on the Blvd Morazan and along Blvd Suyapa towards the university. While nothing like on the scale of most European capitals, this is also the place to come for clubs , especially at weekends.

For films, there are a few cinemas around the centre, with more modern complexes in the outer suburbs. All show first-run Hollywood movies, generally with subtitles. Closest to the centre are Aires Tauro on the Subida Casa Martin, off Av Juan Gutemberg, and Cine Variadades , C Mendieta at Av Cristobal Colon.
