The cheapest hotels , in a resort not exactly bursting with them, are the small and simple Piroska PanziA? at Kossuth utca 10 (tel 83/342-698; 5000-7000Ft) and the Hotel Alba (tel 83/343-123, fax 343-402, www.hotels.hu/hotel_alba ; 7000-10,000Ft), a modest but decent place with a flowery, terraced garden used regularly for barbecues. Two very appealing, and very central, hotels lie just next door to each other on SzA©chenyi utca: at no. 23 is the Pannon (tel 83/340-482, fax 540-111, www.hotels.hu/pannon_heviz ; 7000-10,000Ft), a colourful hotel with inviting rooms, all with shower; while the NapfA©ny , at no. 21 (tel & fax 83/340-642, www.napfenyhotelheviz.hu ; 7000-10,000Ft), has more routine rooms and also rents out bikes. The Park Hotel , at Petofi utca 26 (tel 83/341-193; 14,000-18,000Ft), is the classiest, although not the most expensive, place in town - an elegant thirty-room hotel housed in two villas linked by a walkway; facilities include sauna, jacuzzi and fitness centre.

HA©vA­z's restaurants are very tourist-orientated. The two best places are somewhat inconveniently located fifteen minutes' walk southwest of the centre on TavirA?zsa utca; although there's little to choose between the TavirA?zsa at no. 4 and the Magyar CsA?rda at no. 1, the former is a touch more polished and has vegetarian dishes - both are open daily till 10pm. Another establishment with a good reputation is the RA?zsakert on RA?kA?czi utca in the centre of town.
