The international
airport
(connected to most major Indian cities, as well as Sri Lanka, the Maldives and the Middle East), with tourist information and foreign exchange facilities, is 6km southwest of town and serviced by an airport bus and bus #14 to and from the City bus stand. Auto-rickshaws will run you into the centre for around Rs40 and there's also a handy prepaid taxi service. If you're heading straight out to Kovalam, you may find that a prepaid taxi is almost as cheap as an auto-rickshaw.
The long-distance KSRTC

(tel 0471/329246 or 132) face each other across Station Road in the southeast of the city, a short walk east of Overbridge Junction, where Thiruvananthapuram is bisected by the long north-south MG Road.
Local buses
(to Kovalam for example) depart from
City bus stand
, East Fort, fifteen minutes' walk south from the KSRTC and railway stations.
Auto-rickshaws
, whose drivers don't always use their meters, also run to Kovalam, from the centre, for around Rs60-100.
Taxis
