Cultural entertainment The best place to hear live Rajasthani folk music is Shilpgram. Folk dance performances are staged at Meera Kala Mandir, Meera Bhawan, Sector 11, on the Ahmedabad road (Mon-Sat 7pm; Rs60). For tickets, book direct (tel 0294/583176), or through Meera Cycles on Gangaur Ghat Road, just below the Jagdish temple.

Hospital The (private) Udaipur Hospital, Gulab Bagh Road (0294/420223 or 420322, mobile 98290/42190), has a 24hr casualty service and pharmacy.

Music Sitar and tabla lessons are offered to beginners on a weekly or hourly basis by the enthusiastic and experienced Rajesh Prajapat, contactable through the Prem Musical Instrument shop, opposite Hotel Gangaur Palace, Gangaur Ghat (tel 0294/430599).

Pharmacies Bansal Department Stores, inside Surajpole (20m west of the gate); Vijay Medical Store, opposite the hospital entrance on Hospital Road. Laxmi General Store, Bhattiyani Chohatta, 300m coming from Jagdish temple, on the right, is a useful general pharmacy selling almost anything you could need, including Marmite, tiger balm and Rizlas.
