Buses set down in the main street. Cashel's tourist office (May, June & Sept Mon-Sat 9.15am-6pm; July & Aug daily 9.15am-6pm; tel 062/61333) sits in the market house in the middle of the main street. The Cashel of the Kings heritage centre alongside gives an overall picture of the history of the town, in particular its ecclesiastical buildings.

There are several central B&Bs to choose from, a handful of more spacious establishments can be found out along the Dulla road, and the tourist office can suggest others in the area. For hostel accommodation, you could try one of two IHH-run places: the excellent and very central Cashel Holiday Hostel at 6 John St (tel 062/62330; cashelho@iol.ie ), or the equally impressive, but more rural O'Brien's Farmhouse Hostel (tel 062/61003), located in a converted stone barn a short walk from Cashel. To get to the latter, turn right at the bottom of Main Street and follow the road towards Dundrum; it's signposted off here. O'Brien's also offer excellent camping facilities with superb views of the Rock.

Georgesland on the Dulla road (tel 062/62788). Spacious modern farmhouse in a rural setting, within a mile of town. All rooms are en suite and non-smoking, and the beds are very comfortable. A?40-55/50.79-69.84.

Rahard Lodge on the Dulla road (tel 062/61052). Spacious modern farmhouse, just a mile out of town with en-suite bedrooms and no-smoking policy. A?33-40/41.90-50.79.

Rockview House (tel 062/62187) B&B in a family home situated up a steep lane off the top of the main street, with views of the Rock from rooms. A?33-40/41.90-50.79.

Rockville House (tel 062/61760) Another decent B&B near St Dominic's Friary, a short walk from both the Rock and the centre of town. En-suite rooms; quiet location. Closed Nov to mid-March. A?33-40/41.90-50.79.
