Ferries from CivitavA©cchia, Genova and Livorno dock at the island of Isola Bianca, connected to the mainland by a two-kilometre causeway along which you can walk or take an hourly #3 bus; alternatively take a train from Olbia's main station. There are Tirrenia offices at the port (daily 8.30am-1pm & 5-11pm; tel 0789.24.691), and agencies at the bottom of Corso Umberto, where you can pick up tickets for Tirrenia, Moby Lines and Sardinia Ferries services (all agencies Mon-Sat 8.30am-1pm & 4.30-7.30pm). Sardinia Ferries for Livorno leave from Golfo Aranci, 15km up the coast (9 buses daily); their office in Olbia is at Corso Umberto 4 (tel 0789.25.200). Book early for all departures.

Olbia's airport is connected by half-hourly buses (#2) to the central Piazza Regina Margherita; tickets cost L1300/a?¬0.68 and can be bought from the airport bar. Taxis cost about L25,000/a?¬12.91. Note that there is a summer-only bus service (5 daily) that departs from the airport for the resorts of Arzachena, Palau and Santa Teresa di Gallura , obviating the need to go to Olbia at all if you're bound for the beach-chequered coast or for Corsica.

Trains for SA?ssari and CA?gliari run several times daily from the station just off Corso Umberto, which has a left-luggage office (daily 7.30am-8.30pm). There is also a station at the ferry quay, though not all trains stop here. The ARST bus station is round the corner on the Corso (also reachable by walking along the train station platform).

The tourist office is on Via Piro, a sidestreet running off the Corso (mid-June to mid-Sept Mon-Sat 8.30am-1pm & 4-7pm, Sun 8.30am-1pm; mid-Sept to mid-June Mon-Sat 8.30am-1pm; tel 0789.21.453). There are further offices at the port and airport, but these are open in summer only, and then only for arrivals and departures.
