Vittorio Veneto

The name VITTORIO VENETO first appeared on the map in 1866 when, to mark the Unification of Italy and honour the first king of the new country (Vittorio Emanuele II), the neighbouring towns of CA?neda and Serravalle (not previously the best of friends) were knotted together and rechristened. A new town hall was built midway along the avenue connecting the two towns, and the train station was constructed opposite, thus ensuring that the visitor steps straight from the train into a sort of no-man's-land. It's here, too, that you'll find the tourist office and bus station.
