Banks and exchange Miyazaki Bank, Oita Bank and Fukuoka Bank all have foreign exchange desks. You'll find them on Tachibana-dori, with branches of Miyazaki Bank also near Miyazaki Station and in the Miyako City complex.

Buses Most long-distance buses start from the Miyako City Bus Centre and call either at Miyazaki Station or the Depato-mae stops in the city centre. A few services start at the station, but then travel via Miyako City.

Ferries Marine Express (tel 0985/29-8311) has services to Osaka (daily; 12hr 30min; from A?8230) and Kawasaki (every other day; 20hr 30min; from A?17,710) departing from Miyazaki-ko Ferry Terminal, a short bus ride east of central Miyazaki (15-20min; A?290). You can buy at local travel agents .

Hospitals and medical care The Prefectural Hospital, 5-30 Kita-takamatsu-cho (tel 0985/24-4181), is on Takachiho-dori, west of the central crossroads. The International Centre has information about English-speaking doctors.

Internet access Tip Top (Tachibana-dori Nishi, tel 0985/24-6657) has Internet access for a costly A?1000 an hour. They are located on the northwest corner of Tachibana and Tachibana-dori behind the cinema. Open Mon-Fri 11am-8.30pm, Sat 11am-9pm & Sun 11am-6pm. Closed every 2nd and 4th Sunday.

Post office Miyazaki Central Post Office, 1-1-34 Takachiho-dori, is on the main road east of the Tachibana junction. They accept poste restante and operate a 24hr service for express mail.
