Ferries Sado Kisen (tel 025/245-1234) operates ferries and jetfoil services to Ryotsu (Sado) from the Sado Kisen Terminal, reached by local bus from Niigata Station (15min). Ferries to Otaru (Hokkaido) are run by Shin-Nihonkai Ferry (tel 025/273-2171) and leave from the Shin-Nihonkai Ferry Terminal; take a bus from the station for Rinko Nichome and get off at the Suehiro-bashi stop (20min). In summer, Vladivostok boats (Rinko Air Service; tel 025/244-5671) depart from Niigata's International Passenger Terminal; get off the Rinko Nichome bus at the Chuo-futo stop (25min).
