fiogf49gjkf0d The best way to get to Yokohama
from central Tokyo
is on a Tokye-Toyoko-line
train
from Shibuya Station (every 5min; 40min; A?270), which calls at Yokohama Station before terminating at the more central Sakuragicho Station. Coming from Tokyo Station, there's a choice between the faster Tokaido line and Yokosuka line (both every 5-10min; 30min; A?450) or the Keihin-Tohoku line (every 5-10min; 40min; A?450). All three are JR lines; the first two terminate at Yokohama Station, while the latter is more convenient if you're continuing to Sakuragicho, Kannai or beyond.
Arriving straight
from Narita Airport
, services on JR's
Narita Express
(N'EX) depart roughly every hour for Yokohama Station and take ninety minutes (A?4180); note that not all N'EX trains go to Yokohama and some separate at Tokyo Station, so check before you get on. Otherwise, get on the cheaper rapid train (JR, "Airport Narita"), which takes two hours to reach Yokohama Station (A?1890). From
Haneda Airport
, a limousine bus is the best option, with frequent departures and only a thirty-minute ride into town (A?560); the bus drops you at
YCAT
(Yokohama City Air Terminal), in the Sky Building just east of Yokohama Station. Alternatively, take the Airport line to Keikyu-Kamata Station, then change onto a Keihin-Kyuko train for Yokohama, a total journey time of forty minutes (A?470).
Shinkansen
trains from Kyoto, Osaka and points south pause briefly at
Shin-Yokohama
, 5km north of the centre. From here there's a subway link to the main Yokohama Station (A?230), Sakuragicho and Kannai, but it's cheaper and usually quicker to get the first passing JR Yokohama-line train and change at Higashi-Kanagawa Station onto the Keihin-Tohoku line (A?160).
