to most destinations north and west of Mombasa, including Bamburi and Shanzu beaches and Mtwapa Creek, leave from near the GPO on Digo Road. Matatus to Malindi congregate at the south end of Abdel Nasser Road, near the junction with Mackawi Road by the mosque. For destinations further afield, its better to catch a bus. The overnight
train
for Nairobi leaves four times a week (Tues, Wed, Fri & Sun - but may return to a daily service in the future) at 7pm, arriving at 8.55am, and costs Ksh3000 in 1st class, Ksh2100 in 2nd, and Ksh300 in 3rd. Dinner, breakfast and a bed are included in 1st and 2nd class.
