fiogf49gjkf0d Easily the most exciting place to eat at is Kota Bharu's
night market
(daily 6.30pm-midnight; closed for evening prayers 7.30-8pm), with an amazing variety of food - although vegetarians could find themselves limited to vegetable
murtabak
s. Try the local speciality
ayam percik
(barbecued chicken with a creamy coconut sauce) or the delicious
nasi kerabu
(purple, green or blue rice with a dash of vegetables, seaweed and grated coconut), finish off with a filling
pisang murtabak
(banana pancake), and you won't have parted with much more than RM5. The town's
restaurants
are a letdown after the night market, but
Meena
on Jalan Gajah Mati does excellent, inexpensive banana-leaf curries and
Qing Lang
on Jalan Zainal Abidin serves a totally meat-free menu at RM3 per dish.
