If you're travelling to Tunku Abdul Rahman Park, Mount Kinabalu or Poring, book your accommodation at the Kinabalu Gold Resorts office , 3rd Floor, Block C, Kompleks Karamunsing (Mon-Fri 8am-5am; Sat 8am-2am; tel 088/257941), fifteen minutes' walk south of the centre along Jalan Tunku Abdul Rahman.

All the following tour operators charge about RM100 for day-trips to Tunku Abdul Rahman Park, the Rafflesia Centre or Kinabalu National Park, RM180 for a day's white-water rafting, and RM600 upwards for extended tours into the forested interior: Api Tours, 13 Jl Punai Kedut, Mile 5 Jl Tuaran (tel 088/421963), for rafting, longhouse tours and the Mount Trusmadi Trek; Borneo Wildlife Adventure, Block L, Sinsuran Complex (tel 088/213668), for tailor-made adventure tours along the Sarawak and Kalimantan borders; and Travellers' Rest Hostel, Block L, Sinsuran Complex (tel 088/240625), which has the most competitive rates for trips out of Sandakan. Borneo Expeditions, Shangri-La Tanjung Aru Resort (tel 088/222721), is a white-water rafting specialist.

For diving expeditions, Sipadan Dive Centre, 10th Floor, Wisma Merdeka (tel 088/240584), do two-day dive excursions to Sipadan for RM1495, including all transport, six boat dives plus unlimited shore dives; and Borneo Divers, 9th Floor, Menara Jubili, Jalan Gaya (tel 088/222226), does a three-day Sipidan dive trip for US$700.
