Kuching airport
(tel 082/457373) is 11km south of the city and has a currency exchange (daily 8am-8pm). From the airport, either take a taxi into the centre ($16.50 coupons from a booth outside the Arrivals hall) or the #12a bus, which runs from directly outside the terminal to the station on Lebuh Jawa, taking half an hour (daily 7am-6pm; every 40min; 90 sen)

Long-distance buses
from Sibu and further north, as well as Pontianak, arrive at the Jalan Penrissen bus station, 5km south of downtown Kuching. Walk 100m to the main road, Jalan Penrissen, where buses #17 and #19 run to Main Bazaar and the nearby bus station at Jalan Masjid (half-hourly 6am-11pm; 30min; 60 sen); and buses #3 or #3a (half-hourly 6.30am-6pm; 50 sen) travel to the waterfront Lebuh Jawa.
