The helpful state tourist office is at Morelos 102 (Mon-Fri 9am-8pm, Sat & Sun 9am-1pm; tel 3/668-1600 or 668-1601, fax 668-1606, mquinter@jalisco.gob.mx ), off Plaza Tapatia, where there is also a tourist information booth run by the city council. In addition, there are information booths at the Central Camionera and the airport, as well as a free tourist information phone line from elsewhere in the country (tel 0800/363-2200).

Although any of the banks throughout the centre - the cluster including Banamex and Bancomer around Corona and Juarez, for example - offer currency exchange , casas de cambio, many of them around the corner of Maestranza and Lopez Cotilla, are quicker, open slightly longer and offer almost identical rates. After hours, the bigger hotels will usually change money at a considerably worse rate. Most banks have ATMs .

Guadalajara's main post office (Mon-Fri 8am-6pm, Sat 9am-1pm) is at Venustiano Carranza 16, the junction with Independencia. Casetas for long-distance phone calls include Computel, in the Edificio Mulbar at Corona 181 and Madero, and also in the Camionera Vieja (Sala B and outside), and the Camionera Nueva (building 2), Telefonica Digital, at Sanchez 375 between Ocampo and Galeana. There are also plenty of public phones, including some relatively quiet ones around Plaza Tapatia.
