City transport

As traffic in MAİrida is so congested, and most of the places of interest are within walking distance, it really isn't worth the bother of using public transport to get around in the centre - though it can be fun to hop onto one of the horse-drawn carriages that trot up and down the Paseo de Montejo. However, to get out to some of the more far-flung sites (Palacio CantA?n, for example), you may need to catch a bus. A number of buses leave from C 59 just east of the Parque Hidalgo; fares are around US$0.50. Taxis can be hailed all around town and from ranks at Parque Hidalgo, the post office, Plaza de San Juan and the airport. Car rental offices abound in MAİrida, both at the airport and in the city (see "Listings").
