fiogf49gjkf0d Food in Palenque town is fairly basic, and most restaurants serve up similar dishes, often pasta and pizza, to customers who've really only come for the ruins; some of the best places are actually in
El Panchan
(see "Accommodation"). Despite this, there are bargains available from the many
set menus
on boards outside most restaurants.
JuA?rez
has several
budget places
between the bus stations and the zA?calo;
Pizzeria Palenque
, near the corner with Allende is a good bet.
Hidalgo
has more Mexican-style food, with several taco places and even a couple of seafood restaurants. At the top of Hidalgo, on the corner of the zA?calo, the
Restaurant Maya
has a wide choice and is popular though overpriced;
Virgo's
, across the street is better value. Further along, opposite the church on the corner with JimA©nez,
Na Chan Kan
serves good-value breakfasts and set meals; tables outside allow you to watch the life on the zA?calo.
Las Tinajas
, on 20 de Noviembre across from the
Posada Canek
, is a pleasant, family-run restaurant, with good food at fair prices. There's a good Mexican
bakery
,
Flor de Palenque
, on Allende next to the Chambalu colectivo terminal.
